TULIP Calvin’s Teachings

TULIP Calvin’s teachings! We hear that the central division between the Protestants and Roman Catholicism stands as “free will.”  Dr. Morey continues to explain about the various people involved with this doctrine.  Pelagius on one side and Augustine on the other battled it out.  Pelagius taught that we stand at birth sinless.  Augustine taught that at birth Adam’s sin persists in us.  The Council of Orange settled the situation by writing a “Confession of Faith.”  At this Council they declared Pelagius a heretic.  The Council stated that no one believes except by the Grace of God.  Also no one repents except by the Grace of God.  Man becomes incapable of meriting salvation.

At the time of the reformation Catholicism preached free will.  Then Luther, Calvin et all preached God’s will to salvation.  Therefore, Luther and group taught that man persisted in sin as a continual condition.  As a result, man needed God’s Grace to help him overcome man’s sinfulness.  Of course this also included man’s repentance.  Salvation comes only from God through Jesus, because man is incapable of saving himself!  Dr Morey tells us about James Harmison.  It appears that he persisted in not liking his given name so he changed it.  And he changed it to Jacob Arminius.  Arminius said there existed an error made by the reformers.

TULIP Calvin’s Teachings

Arminius suggested that Religion go back halfway to the Roman concept of worship.  It appears a struggle ensues between being good and being sinful.  Living in this life as a Christian sin comes at us from three places.  #1 it comes from the world.  #2 it comes from the flesh.  #3 it comes from the devil.  So to clarify we cannot get away from sin and sinfulness.  Arminius showed his error when he tried to refute the doctrine of original sin.  He said that the writings of Paul in Romans chapter seven talked about unregenerate people.  This point of view started a lot of divisiveness across the realm of reformers.  The reformers called a meeting to sort thing out.  The Armenians told the meeting that five items needed correction.

You need to get this CD to find out the five items and what happened!!
