The Islamic Invasion: Dr. Morey talks about the origin and nature of Islam. As westerners we need to understand the differences and similarities, if any, between Islam and Christianity. We also need to distinguish between secular and sacred. Since there exists in “the West” freedom of religion we worship as we choose. Islam however exists more as a culture than a religion. Therefore the culture dictates how you worship. This becomes a major difference between the two “religions”. Mohammad took cultural, religious, pagan, and customs from seventh century Arabia turning them into Islam. So Islam shows as more cultural then religious. Then Mohammad forced this “new” religion on people with threats of death! Islam spread through the use of violence.
Islamic scholars agree that Islam exhibits with no separation cultural, religious, and political ideals. For westerners to understand Islam they need to understand seventh century Arabia. Dr. Morey gives an example of how this operates. Women hold no positions against their husbands. The husband manages the affairs of his wife. If the wife rebels against this activity, she rebels against the Holy Qur’an. In short women hold no rights in seventh century Arabia or even current day Islam.
