That makes this epistle foundational for the epistles that follow. These following epistles need interpretation in light of Romans and not by the other way around. Romans acts as the passage of full mention concerning the Gospel of God. The quotes in Romans from all parts of the Old Testament teach that salvation comes through faith alone; by grace alone. Also that salvation remained in and through the Old Testament.

The discussion moves us to compare the law to sin. Dr. Morey explains that sin not the law gives the problem of our death. Sin prevails and we know this through the law. Our sinfulness persists through another law at work in us; the law that makes us and keeps us prisoners to sin. We know the law is spiritual, we on the other hand remain unspiritual. This unspiritualness leads to our death, because we do that which we is wrong. Who can save us from this evil?
Chapter 8 explains our life through the spirit; the future glory from the sufferings we experience; and that this makes us more than conquers through the spirit.
