First century churches required women to take care of the needs of women and children where it would be difficult for a man to handle. Widows and orphaned children were watched over and cared for by these Deaconesses. This left the men free to work on their projects of administering, teaching, and directing the early church. A challenge to watch out for those who cause divisions in the church. Stay away from them don’t deal with them. For such people don’t serve our Lord Jesus. They work for their own appetites, and not the good of the brethren! Continue to be wise about what is good, innocent about what is evil. Innocent about what is evil but watching out to guard against what is evil. The evil one is constantly roaming around looking for someone to devour. Don’t let that be you or one of your brethren.
Then Paul closes this book with the admonishment to remain true to the revealed gospel, the brethren, and to God. Amen and amen!
