Roman Catholicism: A True Church?
Roman Catholicism: A True Church? This lecture will bring out the truth of the Catholic Church’s teachings. The invention of the printing press opened the way for the common man to start to think for himself. Prior to this invention the church dictated what you should think. Religious and sectarian life fell under the control of the church.
To find the pearl of great price we look back to the cross. All that we need for salvation Christ accomplished on the cross. To be able to determine the effects of the reformation there transpire the need for several questions. First, what transpired to bring about the reformation? The reformers claimed they would not leave a church. However, they elected to leave a false religion. New Testament scripture shows no verses to establish the structure of the Roman Catholic Church.
Roman Catholicism: A True Church?
The reformers showed the world that Roman Catholicism came from Old testament Judaism. The leaders of the Roman Catholic Church dressed this fact up in Christian grab. In the Old Testament church the “High Priest” interceded for the people to God. In the New Testament church the Pope becomes the intercessor for the people. The protestants found this aspect of the Roman Church problematic. Their argument showed Jesus as the head of the church. Instead of a priestly class every man officiated as his own priest, the priesthood of believers. This allows believers to appeal directly to Christ for forgiveness of sins.
These prevailed as the reasons reformers left a false religion and not a false church. We leave the final choice up to you. Roman Catholicism: a True Church?
