Cost of Discernment
Cost of Discernment. Dr. Morey begins with a discussion of gullibility. That means believing that all ideas and theologies prevail as truths. He provides several examples of gullibility in today’s church. Dr. Morey continues to talk about the Apostle Paul and Paul’s theology. He continues speaking about his experiences in Bible College. The fact that endured insults and attacks on his character. Why? Because he asked questions to gain understanding. The teachers told him to just receive what God provides through the Spirit.
At this time a friend introduced Dr. Morey to Francis Schaefer and others who answered his questions. He sat at the feet of Dr. Walter Martin and he regained his faith. He found out that there prevail good and bad in the world. However, Christianity shows us the answers to our questions. Dr. Morey finally learned to believe Christianity because it is true. Not that his belief in Christianity made it true. One day Bob sat down with Dr. Schaefer and asked his questions. Dr. Schaefer answered the questions. Bob asked him if he thought that he,Bob, was weird. Dr. Schaefer’s answer held that no, because he had the same questions! Dr. Morey goes on to list other “apologestists” who he met and from whom he learned.
All in all an encouraging message for those who endure this form of persecution. They face because of their stance for truth, correct doctrine, and the right gospel. In other words they believe in the Gospel because it abides in truth and not the other way around!
