This book is essential reading for all in Christian leadership today. Slander and gossip are condemned in Scripture more than any other sins. Dr. Morey has written the definitive biblical study of these two sins. Slanderers and gossipmongers use the internet to rape the Bride of Christ and to drag the name of Jesus through the mud!

“May God use this powerful book to rebuke these evil doers!”
-Bishop Colin P. Akridge

“Dr. Morey’s handbook is full of practical and valuable counsel on recognizing and responding (or not responding) to slander: for instance, 21 signs of how to recognize a gossip monger. Last but not least, what makes this little book especially valuable, are all the contemporary illustrations of gossip and slander, along with the application of biblical principles to them. These illustrations are drawn from Dr. Morey’s long ministry and vast experience as a pastor and as a counselor of pastors (pastor pastorum) and their parishioners.”
-Dr. George P. Hutchinson, Th.M., D.Phil.

“Dr. Bob Morey has been a good friend of mine for many years. I have long appreciated his understanding of God’s word and his hard work in research and teaching. He has risked his life to bring a witness for Christ over against Islam. Naturally he has accumulated critics who have made serious accusations. I have determined to put no credence in these, because of my overall confidence in Bob’s ministry, and because I have not seen credible evidence that any of these accusations are true. What constitutes “credible evidence” in this context? To answer such a question we must follow a biblical path of inquiry. His book, A Bible Handbook on Slander and Gossip, sets forth how the Bible would have us respond to accusations within the body of Christ. I think Bob has done a good job in summarizing Scripture’s teachings on gossip and slander. These are timely subjects; given that many have been using the internet irresponsibly, seeking to destroy people they don’t like. Many have compared the internet to the Wild West, where there is no accountability and any ignorant fool can take a shot at anyone else. I too have been hit by such people. It is time that the church took a stand to reinstitute biblical church discipline and to repudiate lying bloggers. I pray that this book will help to bring that about.”
-Dr. John Frame

“I have received and read Bob Morey’s new Bible Handbook on Slander and Gossip with pleasure.  To my knowledge there is no other book like it available.  Nouthetic counselors, who regularly deal with the problem addressed, will find it helpful as a study of the subject.  They will also want to hand it out in selected cases to counselees.  Thanks, Bob, for the work you did in preparing this.  I strongly recommend it.”

Description

A Bible Handbook on Slander and Gossip

A Bible Handbook on Slander and Gossip, this handbook presents biblical material i.e. passages dealing with slander and gossip.  Dr. Morey begins with the history in the Bible.  Satan, no surprise, is the author of this degrading activity.  In the garden of Eden, slandering God.  The book of Job and his “so called friends.”  How Korah and his group slandered Moses.  There are many other examples in the Bible including in the Psalms and Proverbs.

Also this book shows many valuable and practical words of council on recognizing and deflecting slander.  There are 21 signs telling about gossip mongers.  Also the contemporary illustrations of slander and gossip.  Along with biblical applications of principals to them.  Dr. Morey uses examples from his vast experience as a counselor, a pastor’s counselor, and parishioners.

Other examples from the Handbook of Slander and Gossip

The internet!  Yes, the internet is a blessing and a curse.  As a blessing it enables Christians to communicate and evangelize with people throughout the world.  Especially in countries where Christianity is illegal and prosecuted.  Also many Christian sites defend and expound the glorious Gospel and Grace of God!  Debating non-believers, hopefully bringing them to God.

Sadly the other side exists on the internet.  The “dark side” if you will.  It purveys pornography without censoring which children see without direction!  On the internet a viler form of porn exists.  Slander and gossip run rampant destroying those at whom it is aimed.  Therefore, Pastors targeted by unhappy parishioners end up leaving the ministry because of slander and gossip.  Dr. Morey uses many examples of this situation to explain this difficulty.  He deals with other aspects of slander and gossip to make clear the danger of this attack.  This book belongs on every Pastor’s book shelf.
