Christmas 2008, Dr. Morey begins this lecture with a discussion of Dr. Luke’s Gospel. For example, he continues with a quick coverage of subjects of what the three synoptic Gospels cover. After this introduction Dr. Morey launches into a detailed description of Luke 2:4-19. This begins the story of the shepherds in the fields on Christmas. Firstly Dr. Morey talks about the status and position of the shepherds. In other words how they represent the common man in the Christmas narrative.
Then the heavenly messenger arrives and scares the living daylights out of the shepherds. Meanwhile the angel tells the shepherds to “fear not” because of the message he brings to them. The message pertains to the birth of the promised Messiah. To clarify Dr. Morey continues to explain that the shepherds knew about the promised messiah. Dr. Morey’ explanation includes information as to how Dr Luke received his information. Dr. Luke, a gentile, writing a Jewish Gospel how is that possible? We also receive a lesson in the Greek language. Dr. Morey gives us important information on how the Greek language works in scripture.

Luke interviewed the people involved in the Christmas narrative, including Mary the Mother of Jesus. Therefore, Luke tells us that Mary pondered all her memories and held them in her heart. Dr. Morey suggests that we gather our memories and record them for our families. He talked to his Grandmother and found out about her memories.
