Sovereignty of God; Dr. Morey begins theology lessons with the attributes of God. We find the attributes of God revealed through scripture. God’s attributes define God’s character, nature, and work. Some theologians feel God’s attributes get in their way of explaining their god. Dr. Morey talks about the theology of Issac Watts and the corruption introduced by natural law. Does the Bible teach the primacy of God or man? Sovereignty is revealed in scripture as an attribute of God. Therefore, scripture teaches God’s supremacy not man’s. God’s sovereignty is the Godhead. All other attributes follow after His sovereignty. God’s preeminence magnifies man’s responsibility. In light of God’s dominance man remains responsible for his own repentance. And the day of judgement remains fixed.
Who really controls the universe? God really controls the universe. This lecture series explains that God controls every aspect of His entire creation. This makes God the supreme power and man’s accountability becomes based on this attribute of God. Our image of God often come from our parents, culture. However, God gave us the image He wishes us to have of Him through scripture. Dr. Morey goes on to show examples of images of God from both testaments. In the Old testament a vision from Isaiah.
