The Attributes of God:
The Attributes of God Dr. Morey begins with an examination of First Timothy. He continues with a “story” about Paul’s relationship with Timothy. Paul writes this letter to Timothy to explain how to pick people to help run the church. This was the church at Ephesus. Paul also explained the characteristics of the men Timothy should choose. Dr. Morey talks about “hymns” that stand in scripture. These “hymns” lead us into the holy virtues of The King holy, immortal, invisible, immutable, the only true God.
Philosophers and new age theologians try to tell us god hides in a box out of sight. To clarify we pin our ideas about god to the box and make god in our image. However, scripture proves all that to be bunk. God reveals Himself in scripture. This revelation of His characteristics contribute to our conversations about God. These virtues of God prevail not in our reason but in scripture.
Apostasy pins its meaning on Reason and Rationalism not on scripture. Therefore, any characteristics about God from our minds becomes heresy. God’s characteristics exist independent of and apart from our reason. However, liberal theologians keep telling everyone, who will listen, that God’s virtues don’t mean anything. Sadly liberal theologians ensconced themselves into a lot of colleges and seminaries. So that these liberal ideas now flow from many pulpits. Pulpits once considered evangelical. In short beware the words coming from any pulpit. Above all, weigh them against scripture for correctness.
