Description

Psalm 2

Psalm 2, sets forth, as in an amazing vision, the furor of the people against the Lord’s anointed, the determinate purpose of God to exalt his own Son, and the ultimate reign of that Son over all his enemies.

As the translator of the Book of the Psalms for the ISV, Dr. Morey is uniquely qualified to comment on the Messianic Psalms. With his vast knowledge of the Jewish and Christian literature on the Psalms, he is able to give a scholarly, yet profound interpretation of the Psalms quoted in the New Testament as prophecies of Messiah Jesus. If you want an in-depth study that touches the heart as well as the mind, this series of lectures will prove to be a blessing.

Psalm 2 can be viewed as a play in four acts.  Act I; the Heathens protest against God!  The words tell of the protest.  “Let us break His chains.!”  “Who does God think He is?”  And so on and so forth.  Act II; The Father answers.  God answers the protesters with the truth.  I am God and what I have ordained will be.  Act III; the Son declares.  Now Jesus appears to declare that which the Father spoke.

Psalm 2 continues

Now we find we view act IV; in this act the author David speaks to man telling him that all rebellions will fail and God always wins.  Any fight with Israel becomes a fight against God and God always wins.  In conclusion the author states, “How blessed are those who take refuge in Him.”
